Can Perma Child Safety Baby Gates be installed on glass?

Modified on Wed, 20 Aug at 9:00 AM

We do not recommend installing our baby gates directly on glass walls, windows, or panels. At this time, none of our gates are suitable for direct installation onto glass.

Why Not on Glass?

  • Pressure-Mounted Baby Gates
These gates rely on tension to hold in place. While safe on solid walls (timber, brick, reinforced drywall), the outward force can crack or shatter glass.

  • Retractable Baby Gates
These require drilling brackets into a secure surface. Drilling into glass is unsafe without special processing and is not supported for our products.

Safe Alternatives

  • Install the gate into a solid surface adjacent to the glass (e.g., wall, door frame, or post).

  • Use reinforced fixing points created by a qualified installer or builder.

  • For custom spaces, we recommend consulting a safety professional or glazier to assess your setup and suggest secure alternatives.
